The Old Testament and the Gospel 16-23 Jul 2023
Creation to Consummation – Southeast Asia's first conference dedicated to Biblical Theology is back!
Creation to Consummation (CTC) is a city conference designed to help busy Christians read the Bible across its entire message of salvation. Biblical Theology is all about learning to read the Bible with the unity of its message found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is a vital skill and duty for every Christian, and for the health of the church in Malaysia.
A Biblical Theology of the Old Testament and the Gospel
For the modern Christian, the Old Testament is a mysterious and confusing, perhaps even frightening, part of the Bible that many of us struggle to read. It speaks of an ancient people, the Israelites, and the God who revealed Himself to them so that His purposes for the world would be fulfilled. The context of this material is so foreign to us that many of us are left wondering what such matters have to do with the Christian life at all.
As we struggle with these ancient texts, we ask, "Why do modern Christians need to learn about Israel's story, her laws, and the words of her prophets? What does the Old Testament even have to do with the Gospel?" Good questions.
Learning Biblical Theology at CTC will allow you to learn how to read the whole Bible and answer these basic yet fundamental questions that Christians must not ignore. We need to know the relationship between the Old Testament and the New because it profoundly shapes our understanding of the Lord Jesus Himself and His work of salvation. Jesus himself said that everything written in the Old Testament is about him (Luke 24:44). Hence, it is not too far-fetched to say that we would not be able to understand the Gospel without the Old Testament.
CTC: Behind The Scenes (BTS)
CTC: BTS gives all conference participants a chance to go 'Behind The Scenes' with the teacher and interact further on how to do Biblical Theology. It complements the night talks in a workshop format so that participants can go deeper into the methodology and learn to handle the biblical material for themselves. Anyone keen on applying the content at CTC to their ministries including pastors, ministry leaders or anyone involved in teaching will greatly benefit from CTC: BTS.
Breakfast is always provided alongside CTC: BTS (BTS & Breakfast or B&B) and is included in the registration fee. We encourage you to join us for breakfast before CTC: BTS starts for some fellowship with fellow believers from other churches.
Building Healthy Churches (BHC)
If we are to grow as Christians in the knowledge of our Lord and the life that He has called us to live, we need to know the Gospel according to the Old Testament Scriptures. In our climactic Building Healthy Churches talk and Q&A session, Rev. Dr. Tim will bring together all we have learnt into practical application as we explore how the Old Testament expression of the Gospel should shape our lives, churches and ministries.
Thus, we invite you to join us for the 11th CTC conference as we embark on another decade of equipping the churches of Malaysia for the work of faithful gospel proclamation!
Prelude and Postlude
We also welcome you to have fellowship with other brothers and sisters in Christ at the Prelude and Postlude hosted by Christ Evangelical Reformed Church on two Sundays at Luther Centre. The Prelude will set the tone and help you anticipate what will be covered in the conference while the Postlude will pull together all we have learned throughout the week as Rev. Dr. Tim gives us a taste of what faithful gospel preaching is like with a Biblical Theological framework.
