Defending The Faith
15-16 Sep 2025

  • Intro

Gospel ministry has never been easy. From Paul’s defense of his apostleship to centuries of Reformers laying down their lives for the truth, faithful ministry has always meant opposition and suffering, not because it is wrong, but because it is right.

This generation doesn’t just need more ministers. It needs those who see what’s truly at stake: the glory of God in Christ’s gospel and His church. When the gospel is under fire, distorted, silenced, or diluted, His ministry calls us to clarity, conviction, and courage.

But we do not stand in our own strength. “We have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us” (2 Cor 4:7 ESV). As Calvin wrote, “It is of great importance that the gospel be preached by weak and contemptible men, in order that the power of God may shine the more brightly.” We look back not to admire the past, but to walk in the footsteps of those who would not bend, to be equipped by history to do the historic work of the gospel.

And we give everything for Christ, because His ministry matters.

So set aside some time and space to ask yourselves the tough questions of where you are going in life and whether it follows Jesus' priorities:

    • Are you interested in full-time paid ministry but unsure if you're the right man/woman for the task?
    • Have you been thinking about going to theological college, but unsure what you'll do after that?
    • Do you like to serve God by teaching the Bible but don't know how to proceed?
    • Have you been told you should be a pastor, but you are wondering if you should?

If you've been thinking about how much it matters that we use all that God has given us in this life to proclaim His glory, then Ministry Matters is for you.
